Planning your project

Plan the graphic around the actual surface.

Agree the printable face, position and expected finish on a suitable flat substrate. Material adhesion and colour expectations should be resolved for the actual job.

Prepare your project brief
What you receive
  • Artwork printed directly onto the agreed substrate.
  • A defined print area, alignment, quantity and finish.
  • Artwork preparation, a sample approval or cut panels where included in the scope.
What shapes the quote
  • Printable area, substrate, thickness and access to the surface.
  • Quantity, different designs, positioning and handling.
  • Artwork preparation, colour requirements and any sample or adhesion checks.
Before sending files or parts
  • Send final-size artwork with fonts and linked resources accounted for.
  • Identify the material, thickness, coating and printable face. Describe cleaning, handling or exposure requirements.
  • For several panels, include a layout and the viewing arrangement. Discuss a sample if colour or alignment needs approval.
Prepare a UV printing brief

Artwork on physical surfaces

UV printing brings graphics and colour to suitable flat materials. The equipment list includes a Mimaki JFX 200-2513 EX flatbed printer. Material thickness, surface and print access need to be checked for the job. Final suitability depends on the object, surface, artwork and desired finish.

What makes a useful print brief

Supply the artwork, finished dimensions, quantity and details of the material. Explain where the finished item will be used and whether matching a particular colour or finish is important.

  • Artwork at the intended size with linked resources included
  • Material, thickness and surface information
  • Print position and edge requirements
  • Quantity, use environment and deadline

Direct-to-substrate graphics

Direct-to-substrate printing places the artwork on the item itself. The Mimaki JFX 200-2513 EX flatbed printer is part of the studio’s equipment range. Material, surface condition, thickness and access to the printable face all need checking before the job is agreed.

For signage, retail displays or presentation pieces, show how the graphic sits on the finished item. Include any holes, edges, fixings or adjoining panels that affect alignment. If you need the panel cut as well as printed, include both stages in the brief.

Artwork, colour and the finished environment

Supply artwork at the final size with fonts and linked resources accounted for. Mark the printable face and position on a separate reference if useful. Tell us about colour requirements, the surface finish and how the item will be handled or displayed.

A material name does not establish adhesion or durability for every application. Explain the intended environment and any cleaning or exposure requirements so suitability and any sample work can be discussed before committing to the full quantity.

Service questions

Can you print on my material?

Send details or photographs of the substrate, dimensions and intended use. Adhesion, surface preparation and handling requirements need to be assessed for the job.

Can this connect with other services?

UV artwork can be discussed for prototypes and display pieces. Share the complete project so printing can be considered alongside CAD, 3D printing or laser work.

Is UV printing the same as printing a sticker?

This service concerns printing artwork directly onto a suitable substrate using a flatbed UV printer. If your brief calls for labels, vinyl or another applied graphic, describe that requirement so the team can clarify whether this service fits.

Can you match a colour or print across several panels?

Include colour references, the material, panel layout and the way the pieces will be viewed together. Colour expectations, alignment and whether sample approval is needed should be discussed before a production run.

Have a UV printing project?

Start with a sketch, photo, part or model. Tell us what you need it to do; we can discuss the next step.
