3D Printing
Filament and resin 3D printing for prototypes, models and small batches. Share a file or develop the CAD with our Newark studio, serving projects across the UK.
Discuss your project
- Processes
- Filament and resin printing.
- Start with
- A model, or a CAD brief if it needs designing.
- Tell us
- Size, quantity, fit, finish and how the part will be used.
Choose the purpose before the process
A presentation model, a fit-check prototype and a working component can need different materials and finishing. Tell us how the part will be used, the quantity required and which features matter. We offer filament and resin printing.
Prepare a useful print enquiry
Send your model if one exists. Include the intended size, units, quantity, deadline and any particular surface or functional requirements. If you do not have a model, CAD design can be discussed as part of the project.
- Share the original model or a suitable export
- Identify critical fits, threads and contact surfaces
- Describe expected load, heat or outdoor exposure
- State whether appearance, iteration speed or function is the priority
Filament or resin printing?
The studio’s Ultimaker and Nexa equipment supports filament and resin work. Process choice depends on the shape, surface detail, intended use and material requirements. A visual model may prioritise appearance; a fit-check part needs attention to the surfaces that meet the rest of the assembly.
Nylon, PLA, ABS, PETG and resin are listed in the service range. We will check the material against the geometry and application rather than assume a named material is suitable for every machine or use. Describe heat, loads, exposure and handling in the brief.
Review a prototype before ordering a batch
A first print can help answer a specific question about fit, appearance or assembly. Mark the features to check and explain what would make the prototype useful. If changes are expected, discuss how the CAD and subsequent print will be reviewed.
For multiple parts, provide the quantity, whether they are identical and whether the design has been tested. Orientation, support marks and surface finish can affect a printed part; agree which faces and details matter before production.
Service questions
Which materials are available?
Nylon, PLA, ABS, PETG and resin processes are listed in the service range. Suitability and current availability must be confirmed for the particular machine, geometry and intended use.
Can you make more than one part?
Small to medium batches can be assessed alongside one-off prototypes. Tell us the required quantity and whether the design has already been tested so we can assess a suitable route.
Do I need an STL file for a 3D printing quote?
A model is helpful, but it does not have to be an STL to start the conversation. Tell us the file type and include units, finished dimensions, quantity and intended use. We will confirm a usable format before printing.
Can you print a replacement part without a model?
Share photographs, dimensions and the original part if available. Scanning, reverse engineering or CAD design may be needed first. The part’s function and material requirements determine whether a printed replacement is an appropriate route.
Have a 3d printing project?
Start with a sketch, photo, part or model. Tell us what you need it to do; we can discuss the next step.
